Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

We love to share the food we grow. Since we started Middle Fork Farm in 2013, we have sold our produce to area farm-to-table restaurants, non-profits, and informally to different families who heard of us through word of mouth. We kept things simple and small because our family was growing and we wanted to ensure a healthy farm-life balance. We also wanted to get some experience with a lot of different crops before we scaled up. After much reflection, we decided to create our own Community Supported Agriculture program and welcomed our first CSA members to our farm family in 2022.

Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a system that connects farmers directly with consumers who are interested in buying local, seasonal produce directly from the farm. Members receive a selection of produce each week based on what’s seasonally available which is delivered to their preferred location. This partnership benefits both farmers and consumers: farmers can more easily plan what to plant, knowing they will have a guaranteed market for their produce, and members save money and enjoy the freshest local veggies and herbs of the season.

Large Share – This share is best described as a little over a ¾ bushel box worth of produce and is slightly more than one paper grocery bag full of sustainably grown vegetables and herbs. Members can expect large quantities of 8 to 13 items in each week’s box with most items weighing between 1 and 3 pounds. This is enough for a family of four who loves to cook with veggies and does so most nights of the week or for a vegetarian couple who cook almost all their meals at home. Large shares cost $700/season.

Standard Share – This share receives about 70% as much produce as the Large Share and comes close to filling a ¾ bushel box. It includes around 7 to 12 items in each week’s box with most items weighing between 0.5 and 2 pounds. This box is designed for one- or two-individual households who love to cook most nights of the week or for families who enjoy cooking but find themselves eating away from home a few nights each week. Standard shares cost $500/season.

Home Delivery Option – Depending on where you live, home delivery may also be available for an additional $5/week. We also have one community pick up site in downtown Rochester where you can pick up your shares for free Wednesday evenings between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM.
